Today, I posed a question on Twitter regarding a matter of great importance: what would my Norse name be?
I wasn’t sure what the response would be but I proposed ‘Bodvar Blogpost’ as an opening gambit.
Yet here’s the deal: because I’m connected to bright and informed people, I got serious responses that were all too apposite.
Doc Mac suggested ‘Corpse-Howard’, inspired by saga character Lík-Lodin (who I actually mention in passing in a forthcoming book chapter about post-depositional treatments afforded to corpses in the Viking world).
Luke nokkur followed up proposing this should be ‘Lík-Hávarðr’ in Old Norse.
So there you have it! My Norse name is Lík-Hávarðr!
I wonder whether I should use it as a nom de plume?
